Cords, Stoles and Honors

Students with a 3.40 or higher cumulative GPA will receive honor cord at check-in before the graduation ceremony. Honors are awarded for completed coursework. All Honors announced at the graduation ceremony are based on the Fall 2023 cumulative GPA.  

Students who did not attend the ceremony but want their cord, should contact graduation@angelletter.com to receive their cord.

Graduating students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa are permitted to wear Phi Theta Kappa stoles and tassels at graduation. These students must register with the Phi Theta Kappa Director in order to have this distinction noted in the commencement program by April 15, 2024, Room 3600; 913-288-7190. The cost for the stole is $25.00 and tassel is $10.00.  They must be purchased by April 15, 2024, in Room 3600.

Students who are graduating as an honors education graduate (have completed the required amount of honors tutorials and honors courses) must register with the director of Honors Education in order to have this distinction noted in the commencement program and on their academic transcript by April 15, 2024, Room 3600; 913-288-7190.

In recognition of your military service to the United States of America, Kansas City Kansas Community College would like to honor your graduation by authorizing you to wear the red, white and blue honor cords to your commencement ceremony.

Eligibility

If you are graduating and are an honorably discharged U.S. veteran, are currently serving in the U.S. military (active duty, National Guard, or reserves), you are authorized to wear the military honor cord.

This cord is provided to you at no cost by the  KCKCC Military and Veteran’s Center.
